At this time it was a popular greengrocers in the area, known as E. L. Barber. This is looking down George Lane from South Woodford Station. We are on the corner half way down the road, the one with the awning on the corner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717237x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Scooters in 1958\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1958 &#8211; Woodford Scooters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The shop became Woodford Scooters in 1958, opened by John Witham and Dennis &amp; Gladis Maybee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sidecar in the photo above lost control and crashed through the front door.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717238x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Scooters in 1965\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1965<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The shop quickly established itself selling customised and heavily accessorised Vespa and Lambretta scooters, for the fashion conscious mods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717239x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Scooters Yamaha and Honda in 1973\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1973 &#8211; Yamaha &amp; Honda<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Woodford Scooters started selling Yamaha in 1972 and Honda in 1973.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717242x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Motorcycles in 1980\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1980 &#8211; Woodford Motorcycles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By the early eighties they had outgrown the showroom, so 51 George Lane was purchased and the newly enlarged showroom was re-named to Woodford Motorcycles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717243x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Motorcycles in 1995\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1995<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 25th of March 1995, after 37 years in the trade, Dennis, Gladys and John retired and the shop was purchased by the current owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alan Mitchell, a former manager at Eddy Grimstead Motorcycles in Newbury Park, and Brett Randall, who had his own local workshop and is one of the most knowledgeable technicians in the UK.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717244x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Motorcycles exclusive Yamaha dealership in 2006\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2006 &#8211; Exclusive Yamaha<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Woodford Motorcycles became a premier exclusive Yamaha dealership and became one of Yamaha&#8217;s top dealers, having won Yamaha Dealer of the Year and Ride Magazine&#8217;s Top London Dealer several years running.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medialinksonline.com\/1717245x800x499xFFFFFFxE.jpg\" alt=\"Woodford Cycle Centre in 2013\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2013<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The property was extended by adding flats above and an additional self contained showroom on the side.
